History was made on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the IHSA Girls Bowling State Finals at The Cherry Bowl in Rockford.

Sandburg High School junior Sophia Jablonski and Triad High School freshman Chenoa Stokes became the first student-athletes in IHSA Girls Bowling history to participate in the sport’s Athletes With Disabilities division.

Sophia won the 2017 individual state title, edging Chenoa by a four-game total of 354 to 293, including a single-game high pinfall of 101 in the final game of the day.

Chenoa and Sophia are the fourth overall competitors in the Athletes With Disabilities division for IHSA bowling, as West Central High School’s Zack Bundy and Mascoutah High School’s Fletcher Hopkins began competing in 2013. Hopkins went on to be a four-time state champion in the division.
