STATE

The word is synonymous with high school sports and activities.The ultimate culmination to any season, in Illinois, STATE could represent any number of destinations in the Land of Lincoln; from O’Brien’s blue track, to the hardwood inside Redbird Arena, on the waves of Carlyle Lake or a bevy of places within the Peoria Civic Center. Ultimately, a small percentage of students will have a chance to compete at STATE , which is why this page is dedicated to the journey, as well as the destination. The goal is to chronicle the individuals, both past and present, who are so vital to sports and activities, while recognizing the rich high school pageantry, history and tradition that Illinois is steeped in.
