The Chicago Tribune has named its 2017 Illinois Ms. and Mr. Basketball Award winners based on a statewide vote by coaches and media.

Rock Island sophomore Breanna Beal is the 2017 Ms. Basketball honoree after leading the Rocks to a Sectional Final, just two wins shy of a berth in the state finals.

Edwardsville guard Mark Smith is the 2017 Mr. Basketball honoree after a breakout senior season that saw him lead Edwardsville to a Sectional championship.
