Matt Bowen, a current NFL analyst for a variety of national publications (including Bleacher Report, Chicago Tribune, 670 The Score), recently made the post below on
Facebook regarding specialization among high school athletes. Bowen is a graduate of Glenbard West High School, where he was a three-sport athlete (football, basketball, baseball) before embarking on a seven-year NFL career.

“244 of the 256 #NFL Draft picks were multi-sport athletes in high school...Kids, parents & coaches need to recognize that "specialization" in sports doesn't equal long-term success. Instead, it takes away opportunities. Kids should play everything, compete, practice different movements & learn from different voices.”
