Curie High School’s Dr. Sandra Leconte Honored By NFHS With Music Educator Award

Curie High School’s Dr. Sandra Leconte was recently recognized with the Music Educator Award presented by the NFHS Music Association.

On Tuesday, December 13, 2016, IHSA Assistant Executive Director Susie Knoblauch took part in a ceremony at Curie where she presented the award to Dr. Leconte. See the NFHS release below for more on Dr. Leconte’s storied career:

Sandra Leconte has dedicated the past 40 years of her life to music education in the Chicago area. She currently works at Curie High School as a vocal music and piano teacher, a position she has held since 2006. She is former member of the Curie High School Local School Council and the IHSA Music Advisory Committee.

Leconte is a member of the National Association for Recording Arts and Sciences Chicago chapter, and previously served on the organization’s board of governors. She has been involved in a myriad of organizations including the Chicago Federation of Musicians and the International Reading Association.

Leconte is an undergraduate alumnus of Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans. Additionally, she possesses a master of music degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, a certificate of advanced study in educational leadership from National-Louis University in Wheeling, Illinois, and an Ed.D in educational leadership from Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida.
