In February 2014, the IHSA wrote a
story on undefeated Dakota wrestler Josh Alber that featured his connection with Byron wrestler Austin Henry, who suffers from epilepsy, a seizure disorder that affects his motor skills and memory. Austin was inspired in part by Josh to wrestle. Two years later he is still wrestling and chasing the dream of a state title.
Byron wrestling coach Michael Elsbury had this to say about Austin:
"Austins love for wrestling is as deep as it is for any other young man dreaming and working toward a state championship. He comes every day and works hard in the room. He has been a great young man to coach. You know you’re getting every fiber of his effort in a match. He gives it all. Beyond it all, he is a great human being with a big heart. Last year he started his own toy drive to give gifts to kids who didn’t have any. A great young man."
