The 2023 high school football season in Illinois is upon us and players across the state are ready to enter the spotlight as the season kicks off. With plenty of talented playmakers coming from both sides of the ball, no position will be better set to show out than the group of rushers this season.

From returning starters to a new crop of stars set to begin their campaigns, here’s a look at the top 10 high school running backs in Illinois.
 

10. Robert Boyd-Meents, Jr., Paxton-Buckley-Loda

After watching 2022 graduate Tyler Smith top over 1,500 rushing yards during his freshman season at PBA, Boyd-Meents would take advantage of the open opportunity as a starter during his sophomore season, totaling 1,420 yards and 21 touchdowns. With the breakout year now behind him, the rising junior running back will look to use his recent experience to help push the Panthers deep into the playoffs following their 5-5 record from a season ago.
