BVM Sports presents its list of the top 10 quarterbacks for the 2023 season:

Heading into the Illinois high school football season, prep teams around the state have already begun to focus their efforts on identifying the game’s most important spot. While every winning team features certain characteristics, making it deep into the state playoffs relies on solid play from the quarterback position. 

With plenty delivering that kind of effort last season, the focus for many new quarterbacks now positioned in the starting role will begin to take shape in 2023. With that said, here’s a look at Illinois’ top 10 quarterbacks for the 2023 season. 
 

10. Diego Gutierrez, Sr., Riverside-Brookfield

A three-year varsity starter, Gutierrez impressed throughout his junior season as he got more comfortable in the team’s offense, helping Riverside-Brookfield to a 6-4 campaign. With 1,958 passing yards and 23 touchdowns, Gutierrez showcased an ability to make plays at a consistent level for the Bulldogs, finishing with just two interceptions on the year. With improvement from the team’s 2021 season to 2022, Gutierrez and the Bulldogs will be ready to use this past year as the jumpstarter to a possible playoff run in 2023.
