BVM Sports presents its list of the top 5 girls basketball players in the Class of 2024 within the state:
Illinois has historically produced some elite high school basketball talent on the girls side. Whether it was Yolanda Griffith back in the 1990s, or more recent players like Candace Parker and Jewell Loyd, the Prairie State has seen several of its stars go on to have successful college and pro careers.
As the 2023-24 girls high school basketball season begins, several players will look to follow in the footsteps of some of those past stars, and there should be no shortage of talent taking the court. That rings especially true in the state’s senior class which includes multiple Division I commits and some of the top girls high school basketball prospects in the entire country.
Here are the top five Illinois girls high school basketball players in the Class of 2024.
5. Roisin Grandberry, F, Rolling Meadows
Grandberry didn’t compile some of the numbers others on this list had last year, yet, the No. 74 prospect in the Class of 2024 continues to impact the game in multiple ways when she’s on the court, whether that be at Rolling Meadows, or with her travel team, Lady Lightning. In addition to her 181 points, Grandberry racked up 210 rebounds, 48 assists and 33 blocks last season for a 19-12 Mustangs squad. Playing alongside her young sister, Dalia, Roisin should have a strong senior season for the Mustangs and started things off well with a 17-point, eight-rebound performance in Rolling Meadows’ opening game. The 6-foot-4 forward is one of a few girls on this list who will play college basketball in-state, committing to Loyola Chicago in October.
