The 2017 IHSA Boys Volleyball State Finals return to Hoffman Estates High School on Friday and Saturday, June 2-3.
IHSA TV veterans Scott Slocum, Brian Bedo and Matt Rodewald will combine on the call, as all eight matches will be broadcast live on the NFHS Network at www.IHSA.tv thanks in part to presenting sponsor Country Financial.
A brief synopsis and individual team stat leaders from each qualifying team are available below & a full weekend schedule is located on the righthand sidebar:
LAKE PARK LANCERS (37-1)
Tim Murphy has Lake Park at state for the fifth time in six seasons. The Lancers have fallen to eventual state champ Glenbard West in the quarterfinals the past two seasons, but beat the Hilltoppers in April. The Lancers could get a chance to avenge their lone loss of the year if they face New Trier in the semifinals.

Assists: 804, Justin Yost
Blocks: 98, Nick Martinski (6-7)
Digs: 296, Justin Yost
OAK PARK-RIVER FOREST HUSKIES (25-8)
After a three-year hiatus, the Huskies are back at state for the 14th time in program history. 2017 marks the fifth trip under head coach Don August, and now Oak Park-River Forest hopes to collect the first trophy of the August era and the first state title in school history.
Kills: 173, Mike Saleh
Assists: 667, Ben Hancock
Blocks: 63, Jack Valenti (6-5)
Digs: 101, Michael Milad
LINCOLN-WAY EAST GRIFFINS (32-7)
Lincoln-Way East meets New Trier in the quarterfinals for the second straight year, looking to avenge last year’s defeat to the eventual runner-up. Head coach Kristopher Fiore guided the Griffins to a state title in 2014 and hopes to extend the teams current 10-match win streak all the way to a second crown.
Kills: 297, Ian Piet
Assists: 822, Jake Snyder
Blocks: 71, Luis Zavala (6-3)
Digs: 242, Danny Pacini
NEW TRIER TREVIANS (35-4)
The Trevians ran into a historically good Glenbard West team in last year’s finals and were unable to hand them their first loss of the season. Sue Ellen Haak’s squad has avenged three of its four regular-season losses thus far this season, the one remaining outlier being Glenbard West.
Kills: 287, Billy Fauntleroy
Assists: 803, Niko Gjaja
Blocks: 57, Joe D’Attomo
Digs: 183, Ruben Greenstein
BROTHER RICE CRUSADERS (30-9)
The Crusaders made five state trips and won a third-place trophy between 2004 and 2012, and now return to the finals for the first time under third-year head coach Dan Dwyer. Brother Rice is battle-tested from a regular-season schedule that included six state final teams.
Kills: 247, Ryan Banky
Assists: 772, Matt O’Donnell
Blocks: 98, Joe Kenzinger (6-6)
Digs: 461, Tom Kleist
HINSDALE CENTRAL RED DEVILS (29-10)
After making the first state final trip in school history in 2015, Mike Konrad has the Red Devils back again and in search of the program’s first trophy. Hinsdale Central enters having won 13 of its last 14 matches since a three-match skid in early May.

HERSEY HUSKIES (33-6)
Nancy Lill returns Hersey to the state finals in her second go-around as head coach. Lill led the Huskies to state three times from 1999 to 2003, including a second-place finish in 2003, but the program’s last state trip was 2005. The Huskies played their quarterfinal foe, Glenbard West, tough in a May loss (25-22, 25-23).

Assists: 1,005, Vince Reisel
Blocks: 120, Joe Nugent
