The 2016 IHSA Class 1A & Class 2A Softball State Finals return to the award-winning Eastside CentrePark complex in East Peoria on Friday and Saturday, June 3-4.
All eights games this weekend will be broadcast live by the NFHS Network on www.IHSA.tv by presenting sponsor Country Financial as IHSA TV veteran Beau Spencer brings viewers all of the action.
A brief synopsis and stat leaders on each of this weekend's finalists is provided below:
CALHOUN INDIANS (38-2)
Every Baalman counts, (Calhoun has eight in their dugout with six players plus head coach Matt and assistant coach Emma), but none more than junior pitcher Grace, a University of Kentucky commit who pitched this group to the 1A state title a year ago and helped them win state basketball in March (coached by Aaron Baalman).

TRICO PIONEERS (31-2)
The Pioneers and head coach Drew Franklin are back at state after a one-year absence, as the 2014 runner-up has won 23 straight with its last lost coming way back on April 4. Three starters return from the 2014 team, including senior Emily Bauersachs, who accounted for the lone Pioneer run in the 2-1 title game loss with a home run.

PRINCEVILLE LADY PRINCES (33-3)
After reaching the Super-Sectional a year ago, the Lady Princes take the next step under head coach Chad Garner with their first trip to state. The Princeville offense is prolific, having tallied double-digit runs in 22 games this season, while outscoring five State Series foes 45-6.

FISHER BUNNIES (29-6)
The Bunnies and head coach Ken Ingold are making their first state final appearance, in any sport, after the team rallied from a 7-3 deficit to top Amboy 9-7 in the Super-Sectional. The Bunnies have power all over the lineup, as nine different players have mashed home runs this year, including four players combining for 33 long balls.

CLASS 2A
DUPO TIGERS (20-5)
Dupo placed fourth in 2009 in the school’s first state final appearance and has its sights set on a bigger trophy this time around. Head coach Greg Pennock’s team relies heavily on their experience and intelligence, as the team features seven seniors, four of whom shared the school’s Valedictorian honors at graducation this year.
Batting Average: .468, Rachael Donald
Runs: 27, Alyssa Strubberg
RBI: 33, Rachael Donald
Home Runs: 4, Megan Brown

ST. EDWARD LADY WAVE (25-8)
It took 11 innings, but St. Edward eventually emerged with a 1-0 Super-Sectional victory over Peotone, helping the Lady Wave and first-year head coach Paul Netzel clinch the school’s first state final appearance in the sport. St. Edward is battle-tested by its schedule, as all its losses this season came against Class 3A and 4A schools.
Batting Average: .558, Lindsay Zdroik
Runs: 49, Allie Stratman
RBI: 66, Lindsay Zdroik

ROCKRIDGE ROCKETS (33-5)
The school that produced the shot heard round the world in March now has a hit to match it. Trailing Stillman Valley 8-6 in the bottom of the seventh inning of its Super-Sectional contest, Rocket junior Daria Parchert hit a three-run, walk off home run to bring Rockridge to state for the first time since three consecutive trips from 2005-2007, a run that included the school’s lone state title in 2005.

RBI: 51, Erin Lingle

Maddie Bayne (R, 9-4, 76.1 inn., 43K, 2.20 ERA)
CARTERVILLE LIONS (30-3)
With a first year head coach in Will Capie and slew of underclass starters, the Carterville Lions appear to be ahead of schedule on paper. Perhaps the school is gearing up to match its run from 2006-2008, when the school made three straight state final appearance, culminating with a Class 2A state title in 2008.
Batting Average: .432, Montana Taylor
Runs: 31, Montana Taylor
