The radio voice of high school sports in the greater Springfield area for nearly 40 years, the renowned play-by-play man of WFMB 1450 AM, Tim Schweizer, was honored with his IHSA Distinguished Media Service Award on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Prairie Capitol Convention Center in Springfield.
Schweizer, who was nominated for the award by both his alma mater Springfield High School and neighboring Glenwood High School in Chatham, had the special distinction of being recognized before the two teams met each other in a varsity boys’ basketball contest.

Tim was introduced by Glenwood High School Athletic Director Dan Rourke , before IHSA Executive Director Marty Hickman, himself a local native of New Berlin, spoke about Tim and presented him with his plaque. Tim then addressed the crowd in attendance.
