Long-time voice of WRMJ Radio in Aledo (102.3 FM) Jim Taylor was honored with his
IHSA Distinguished Media Service Award when Mercer County High School hosted Stark County High School in boys’ basketball on Friday, January 23, 2015.
Jim's son, Ty, was in uniform for the Golden Eagles that evening, and the hometown crowd came out in full support. The Mercer County team wore shirts honoring Jim in warm-ups, the band had a FatHead of his face, and most of the crowd in attendance had shirts and other items to celebrate the occasion.
Jim took a break from the radio broadcast at halftime to receive the award from WRMJ owner John Hoscheidt, before addressing the crowd. Sights and sounds from evening are available below. Photos are courtesy of
