On July 5, 2016, legendary Maine West girls basketball coach Derril Kipp passed away after battling pancreatic cancer. Kipp leaves behind an incredible legacy that includes coaching the 1987-88 Maine West squad
(pictured above, Kipp far left) to the IHSA Class AA state title. Kipp's squads from 1987-1989 also established the state's longest winning streak in the sports history with 65 consecutive wins.
