The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) launched a new page within its
www.IHSA.org website on September 20 entitled
IHSAState (
www.IHSA.org/IHSAState).
The new site will contain original content celebrating the page
antry, history and tradition of high school sports and activities in Illinois. The site will sort content in a number of different categories that focus on subjects such as alumni of IHSA schools, sportsmanship, officials, traditions, venues and nicknames.
“We are excited about this new initiative,” said IHSA Assistant Executive Director Matt Troha. “It is a chance to highlight the schools, teams, individuals and unique characteristics, from nicknames to traditions, that make high school sports and activities so beloved in our state.”
The content will be a compilation of feature stories, interviews, photos and video. One category, entitled The Student Section, will feature user submitted photos and video of their student sections from contests throughout the school year.
“We expect the site and content to evolve with time,” said Troha. “Ultimately, the site belongs to our schools. Each school likely has multiple stories that could be covered within each category, and we hope they will respond and let us know so that we can tell those stories.”
A new entry is expected to be added to the site every 7 to 10 days on the site during the fall, winter and spring regular-seasons. Once state finals begin during each season, State Final previews will be posted on the site during the week and then coverage of the state final events will shift to the IHSA Twitter account
@IHSAState on state final weekends.
