Peoria area legend Jim Mattson, who has covered high school sports in the area at WHOI-TV and WEEK-TV since 1987, was honored with the IHSA Distinguished Media Service Award on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at Morton High School.
Surrounded by family (including daughter Tyla who plays for Morton), friends, and administrators from the Mid-Illini Conference, Jim was recognized prior to Morton’s varsity girls volleyball match against Metamora.
