The IHSA Board of Directors met for a special board meeting via a video conference call on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, where the Board approved two action items.
ACTION ITEMS
1. The Board approved initial Return to Play Guidelines developed by the IHSA Sports Medicine Advisory Committee in collaboration with the Illinois Department of Public Health. The IHSA Board approved a draft of the guidelines on May 20. IHSA leadership then worked with the Illinois Department of Public Health for feedback and approval, which came on June 5, 2020. 2. The Board approved a recommendation to make an addendum to the IHSA’s defined benefit plan applicable for past IHSA employees and some retirees. The IHSA’s actuary recommended these changes to maintain compliance with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.
DISCUSSION
At each meeting of the Board of Directors, there are certain items the Board discusses, but upon which no action is taken. The following is a report of those items from the May 20, 2020, agenda:
1. The Board heard a report on the IHSA’s #WeAreInThisTogether social media campaign that ran from May 14-16.
2. The Board heard a report on the current IHSA budget projections based on expense and revenue from the 2019-20 school year.
