Matt Troha, a 2000 graduate of Joliet Catholic Academy (JCA) in Joliet, Illinois, was named an Assistant Executive Director by the IHSA Board on August 20, 2008. Troha is the 30th member to serve on the IHSA administrative staff.
Troha was a member of the undefeated 1999 IHSA Class 4A State Football Championship team during his senior year at JCA, where he played under head coach Dan Sharp.
Troha spent three years at the Midwest Conference after becoming the NCAA Division III league's first full-time Sports Information Director in 2005. His duties at the Ripon, Wisconsin, based conference included coordinating all media relations efforts, producing league press releases and serving as an NCAA liaison for statistical issues. He was also directly involved in a number of conference initiatives that included sportsmanship programs, internet webcasting and a publication of the league's history.
Troha attended Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois, where he received a degree in Communications with a focus in Media Communications and Journalism in 2004. In addition to completing an internship in the Monmouth College Sports Information Office, he doubled as the Sports Editor for the Monmouth College newspaper The Courier and covered high school athletics for the Monmouth Daily Review Atlas.
In 2004, Troha became the Media Relations Assistant for the Mid-Continent Conference (currently the Summit League), an NCAA Division I athletic conference located in Elmhurst, Illinois. During his year at the Mid-Con he also covered prep sports as a stringer for the Chicago Tribune.
Troha earned his Master's Degree in Organizational Leadership & Quality from Marian University in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin in 2008 and served on the media relations staff for the NCAA Division III World Series in Appleton, Wisconsin from 2006-2008.
He was appointed to the NFHS Publications Committee, which produces the NFHS Magazine High School Today, in 2012. He was named to the NFHS Network advisory council in 2015 and was also a member of the inaugural "40 Under 40 Team" presented by Coach and Athletic Director magazine in 2018.
Troha and his wife Tasha reside in Heyworth and have two sons (Caleb & Keegan) and a daughter (Addison).
