``They had a couple of turnovers early in the game, which might have had a bearing on the momentum. We didn't take advantage of those situations and Montini was able to build a big head of steam.''

New Class 4A championship game record: Coal City junior Ben Rouse established a new Class 4A championship game record in Friday afternoon's title game. Rouse's 73-yard punt in the second quarter eclipsed the old record of 61 yards shared by Doug Rosenbaum of Normal (Community) from 1974 and Jeff Junker of Belleville (Althoff) from the 1980 playoffs.
