Winning Coach John Belskis from Downers Grove (South)
This championship is the culmination of a lot of hard work just to get here. I can’t describe how thrilled I am with the outcome. the drive into the wind with two minutes left was truly a championship drive.
I am really proud of these guys, and especially proud of our offensive effort tonight. Defensively we worked hard, and were successful in stoping their running game.
I think if we’d been able to put a little more pressure on their QB it would have been a lot easier on our defensive backs.
All season long we talked about running the table and that table just got longer and longer. With Mike (Cuzzone) at the helm we are 25-4 over his career. He is the kind of kid you’d let date your daughter.
Losing Coach Joe Bunge from Naperville (Central)
I thought it was really an exciting game. Downer’s came through when they needed to. Everytime we thought we had them, they came through again. You’ve got to give them credit.
I am really proud of our kids at Naperville Central, whose backs were against the wall. They hung tough and faught with everything they had.
