Winning coach: David Weber, Northbrook (Glenbrook N.) - ``I thought we played very well obviously there is no question about that. Eytan (Azaria) got going very early and hit those shots. I think Johnsburg is a great team and I just think we caught them on a night where we did some different things defensively that slowed them down. We made it really difficult for them to score inside and our kids really executed the game very well. They've been listening lately so hopefully we can keep that going for a couple days here."
``It was straight man to man, but we were double-teaming every time they caught the ball. We double teamed from the week side and it made it difficult for them to turn, and they got caught under the basket a couple times and it was hard for them to score in there. We play that way all the time. We just don't have to play against post players like that. So we don't practice it that much, but we did spend two days working on that and we really executed it very well. When they came out and didn't hit their perimeter shots, which was really good for us because we could continue doubling in on them."
``This whole journey here is too good to be true for us right now. But we're here and we're going to take advantage of it. When this finishes this weekend I am going to go back and I'm going to have to look at he tapes or something and see that this really did happen to us. It's almost like we're in a different world here, the way we've been playing lately. It was easy tonight, which was good for us, because we got to rest a little bit. I think we'll be pretty fresh coming back tomorrow at that second game. We've got some time to rest here and our players didn't have to play until the end of the game, normally we only play six guys, but tonight we got to sub a little bit more."
Losing coach: Ed Sennett, Johnsburg - ``We got beat by a very good team. They controlled themselves very well. They did not take the first opportunity that showed up. They were willing to wait and wait and wait so they could get the high percentage shot they wanted. Their one young man hit a lot of shots but I don't think our defense was the problem. It was on offense that was our problem. We didn't have enough of it."
``We gave up forty-seven points and under normal circumstances that's a good defensive effort for a lot of teams. With giving up only forty-seven points in a lot more cases than not, would mean a win. We didn't get many points offensively."
``We're very proud of this team. They've had a great season and we that can't be taken away from them. We're very proud of the 30 wins, it's just the two losses we'd like to get rid of. We're the first team from McHenry County to ever advance to the state tournament. That is also a point that makes us very proud. We'd like to have had a better showing but again, this is not indicative of the season we've had.
