Winning coach Jim Sullivan, Des Plaines (Maine West)
``We are absolutely tickled to death to be where we are at right now. To be down here is something we've strove for all year long and when we got here I wasn't the first one to talk about once we got here making sure we did something with it. That was the team that wanted to make sure we did something instead of just enjoying the ride. The seniors have been the leaders. It was their intestinal fortitude and great play to stay focused on what had to be done and get it done.
Quotes from Lucas Johnson ``I went into the trainers room where they stitched me up and I went back out. I didn't even notice the injury in the second half, except I got a little lightheaded a couple of times. It didn't bother me and I'm not making excuses for missing free throws. I got hit, it hurt, they stitched me up and I got back in the game.''
``Corey (Maggette) didn't get a chance to say anything at the time it happened. We talked a little later in the game and he told me he was sorry. Everything is fine between us.''
``There was no concern with me not coming back. They looked at it and send I would be fine once the stitches were in and I could go back to the game. I was more concerned with the score more than the cut.''
``Give credit to those guys. When I was in getting stitches I knew they pull through. We are a family and I was confident they would take care of things even if I didn't come back.''
Losing coach John Quinn, Oak Park (Fenwick)
``You have to give credit to the Maine West Warriors. I think they exploited some of the weaknesses in our team we've shown.''
``Corey (Maggette) has had a magnificent career but he never got started tonight. He rushed some shots that he usually finishes frequently.''
``We thought perhaps our backcourt could dominate theirs but we needed our frontcourt to finish a few more plays.''
``I want to give credit to our kids for sticking close in game where they made 14 actually it was 13 more free throws than we did, and that was the difference in the game. Our kids came back in the third quarter but it took a lot of energy and we couldn't sustain our level of play.''
``You hate to lose not playing your best and this was not our best tonight. We did not play four good quarters.''
