Winning coach Reno Pinkston, Nauvoo (N-Colusa)
``Coming into this game we had played a super-sectional game against an undefeated team. Prior to this afternoon I've never had a team able to step up in games that people don't think they can win like these kids did. We were down 11 points and this may sound silly but I actually wasn't worried. I probably should have been but I knew these kids would defend. I knew they'd come down and run the offense we asked them to run and give us the opportunity to win.''
``I've never felt like that about a team. I've had good teams in the past but this team is something special. They believe in themselves and in what we are doing. They never think they're out of the game regardless of the situation. They know I they stick together and apply what they have learned they know they have a chance.''
``So now we're in the state title game. Whomever we play it's really up to us to perform. It's really up to us to give ourselves an opportunity to vie for what we are playing for.'
Losing coach Tom Wierzba, Farmington
``I thought we probably lost a little bit of focus after we got an 11 point lead to start the fourth quarter. Our kids in he locker room are just devastated. They know they let one get away and that was a king-sized let down.''
``I know there will be questions about if we went to the delay game too soon. If you have an All-State guard we'll take that chance anytime.''
``After they missed the first free-throw (with the score tied at 47-47 with one second left) we had a time-out left and I would have called it but the kids weren't looking. We had our final play al set up.''
``On our last shot we ran it perfectly. With one second left we got as good a look as we could hope for. If it had gone in we'd be out there dancing a jig.''
