Winning coach Eric Bryant, Spring Valley (Hall)
``I think this was like White Sox basketball, winning ugly. We did not play very good. We're not happy with some things, definitely our rebounding. It was just killing us but I was real happy with the kids and the way they came out determined in he second half to win the game one way or the other.''
``We had a little defensive change in the second half which helped with our rebounding. But really it was the determination of these kids which pulled out the ball game.''
``We talked a lot at half-time about the things we needed to do. Basically we just challenged them. The rebounding thing was a glaring weakness of ours in the first half and we just put a challenge on them to get the job done in the second half.''
``This was probably one of the worst halves of the season for us. We played poorly but we were still in the game, only five down at half-time. We felt if we came out and stepped it up in the second half we'd have a good chance.''
``It's hard to say if we were too up or what. The first game down here is difficult. I don't care how seasoned a team you have the first game is very tough. We had quite a few miscues, passes we normally complete. But you have to give Teutopolis credit for some of that with the way they played defense. They were all over us from start to finish and they worked their tails off. I think we just fortunate to execute a little better offensively and got a few breaks.''
Losing coach Ken Crawford (Teutopolis)
``The big thing was we left it all out on the floor. We played a great basketball team tonight. They came out in the second half and showed the can play some fine defense, too.''
``We got beat tonight but we're not hanging our heads. To honest with you on November 11th I said to myself I don't know if I see and Elite Eight team here. By the last week of February though my thought was we can make it all the way to Peoria.''
``Down the stretch I had no problem with our shot selection. As a matter of fact I told them to take some of those shots.''
