We came here on hard work and tough defense and played hard.” ``Credit Normal (U-High), they worked hard to get lead and worked hard to keep it. They were tougher. they stayed tough and came back on us time and time again. We relinquished the lead but we stayed right there. For the fans it was an enter taining game; for the coaches and players, especially the loser, it was heart breaking. “ (On Normal U-High’s Jeremy Stanton) `` He’s a fantantasic player. He gives everything he’s got and everything he does he does very well. It was a great matchup with (Maurice) Baker and Stanton. They gave the fans a great show. The Class AA teams we played matched the caliber of the Stanton kid.’’ In the second half Maurice (Baker) was probably tired., he had worked pretty hard in the first half. When he doesn’t get the ball we try to sag to the middle. We have kids who pick it up. Patton did this afternoon. They pick up for him when he’s tired.’’ Winning coach Cal Hubbard (Normal U-High) ``It was a good game! What did you guys think?’’ ``Overall, Madison played perfect basketball in the first half. We might have been intimnidated a little early in the game. It seemed like we were uncharacteristically tentative.’’ ``Hell yes, we were scared., We thought they were an awfully good team.’’ Normal U High’s Jeremy Stanton: ``In the second half, we went to a forty-one , with four guys outside and one in. It made them come out of their zone and come out and guard us.’’ |
