Semifinal game 6 Saturday morning, June 12, 2004 12:32 A.M.
St. Charles (East) vs. Joliet (Catholic Academy)
Notes and Quotes
Winning coach: Jared Voss, Joliet (Catholic Academy) ``Just another exciting game. We told our guys that we've hit all year, let's play how we know how. They exploded and put runs on the board. Our pitchers and we played good defense. All our outfielders cover a lot of ground. It really works to our advantage.''
``We had a lot of respect for the middle part of their order, but we felt we could get the bottom third out.''
``We knew (Dan) Wells was going to throw at some point in the game and he was ready for it. He threw well. Nick Testin will start tonight's championship game.''
``We like to use the bunt when we get up a little kit. It puts the pressure on. When you can dictate play to the other team, you are in good shape.''
Losing coach: Mark Foulkes, St. Charles (East) ``I thought t he game was pretty well played. They sure got us in t hat one inning (third inning). We made some mistakes that we couldn't afford to make against a team like JCA..''
``When we had runners in position, we just couldn't get the big hits. That's just the way it went for us today. I'm proud of these guys, our seniors. They can still end their season by winning a game and finishing on a high note.''
