NOTES AND QUOTES
Winning coach, Tom Myers of Lake Forest High School: ``Andrew’s (Crawford) catch was the key. It shut them down and they didn’t challenge after that. It was outstanding. But, we’ve come to expect that out of him."
``I expected to play real well today. Having 28 wins is a school record and we were looking for that 28th win and to make it into the trophy round. It was hard to have expectations because we didn’t know how good they were. They are a great ball club. We also expect to play everyday.”
``I can’t say how proud I am of these guys. I have interacted with these guys in some way since they were in 3rd grade. I’ve watch them produce down the stretch. Different people step up for us each time. This has definitely been a team stretch. We’re not waiting for one guy – it’s a team.”
Losing coach, Todd Blomberg of Belleville East High School: ``We picked a bad day to have a bad day."
``We’ve been playing good up to this point. We just didn’t have it today. It is partly our fault and partly due to Lake Forest. But it was a bad day all around.”
``I am extremely proud of our team. How disappointing this day was. I told the guys not to let this day overshadow the season. That the journey is important, not always the end result. Today was just a bad day to end the season.”
``They (Lake Forest) took a lot of momentum from us. Hopefully you don’t let it snowball and today it did for us.”
``They put in so much time and hard work and to not be successful as they would’ve been is very disappointing. I’m proud of how they did to get us here.”
