 Notes & Quotes
Winning coach, Tim Funkhouser, Edwardsville (H.S.): "It was a heck of a ballgame. St. Charles East is a great ballclub. Their pitcher is outstanding. He pitched a great game.

We hit some balls with two strikes that made a difference. We teach our kids how important it is to put the bat on the ball with two strikes.

Culp made some big pitches today. That’s what you’ve got to do against a quality club like St. Charles East.

We felt most comfortable with Seibert in that last spot. He’s seen a lot of pitches and we knew he’d make good choices.

St. Charles East may be the best team we’ve faced. They’re well-coached and their guys understand the game and have a good feel for it. "

Losing coach, Len Asquini, St. Charles (East): " I thought it was a great battle between two great clubs. Unfortunately, someone had to come up short. It was like a great heavyweight fight. Somehow had to get knocked out. There was a lot of tension out there and I think our kids handled it pretty well.

I’m proud of our guys - what they did this season - what they accomplished tonight."
