NOTES AND QUOTES
Winning coach, Jared Voss, Joliet (Catholic Academy): "I feel like I’m 25 going on 40. I was a tremendous effort. We’ve been winning games like this all season. When Mark (Sopko) is pitching, and we’re the home team, we always feel that having the last at-bat is going to give us the chance to win.”
"We’re not sure yet about tonight’s pitcher. We’ve still got to talk about it.”
“New Trier is a good team. We know Coach Napoleon from his time at Providence. And we know they’re going to be ready to play.”
Losing coach, Derek Lindauer, Moline: "It was a tough game, a tough day. I can’t get anymore pitching than what I could out of Eric (Boster). He was running on fumes and the guy coming up to bat (Jason Wagner) had two for three on him. We thought we give him a different look."
“We did give the runs early and there is nothing you can do about that. But we did battle back. I still want to at the tape (of the call on the walk to Jake Jaworski in the bottom of the ninth). I’m never going to blame an umpire but that was a strikeout, throw out. There is no doubt in my mind, standing right here, and he knows it. It was a poor call and I’m not going to blame an umpire. We should still be tied, that’s the way I see it. The guy was froze at the plate.”
On Eric Boster’s performance: “That doesn’t surprise me. He’s got heart. He got so much will. We should still be out there playing.
