The Semifinal round of the 2009 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Football Playoffs will unfold on Saturday, November 21 and four of the contests will be available either live or on tape-delay television broadcasts.
The first game of the day will appear on Comcast SportsNet Chicago from Lake Zurich, where Lake Zurich High School will host Glen Ellyn (Glenbard West) in a Class 7A semifinal set to begin at 1 p.m.
The IHSA TV Network will carry the Class 8A contest between Chicago (Marist) and Carol Stream (Glenbard North) live exclusively on WPWR TV-50 in Chicagoland. The kickoff from Glenbard North is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
Comcast Network 100 (CN 100) in Chicagoland will also carry two semifinal contests on tape delay. CN100 will cover the Class 8A tilt between Wilmette (Loyola Academy) and host Park Ridge (Maine South). The game between Loyola and Maine South begins at 1 p.m. and will air on CN100 at 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 21.
CN100’s second contest features Crystal Lake (Prairie Ridge) at Cary (C.-Grove). The Class 6A contest at Cary-Grove kicks off at 1 p.m. and will air on CN100 at 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 22.
Sixteen total semifinals will be contested on Saturday, with the winners advancing to play in one of the IHSA’s eight state championship games on Friday and Saturday, November 27-28. The state final contests will be held at Memorial Stadium on the University of Illinois campus in Champaign-Urbana. The IHSA TV Network will carry all eight state finals statewide.
