Three IHSA Board Vacancies Filled For 2009-10 School Year

The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Board of Directors announced the appointment of three new Board members for the 2009-10 school year at its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, June 15, 2009.

The three appointments will fill the vacated Board positions from Oak Lawn (Richards) Principal Ross Cucio (Division 3), Carbondale Principal Vicky King (At-Large), and Gurnee (Warren) Principal Doug Domeracki (Division 2).

Cucio and King will both retire at the conclusion of the school year, while Domeracki has accepted a Superintendent position in Wisconsin.

Frankfort (Lincoln-Way North) Principal Dr. Michael Gardner will replace Cucio in Division 3, Wauconda Principal Dan Klett follows Domeracki as the Division 2 representative and Normal (Community) Principal Dr. Jeanette Nuckolls fills King’s At-Large position.

“This is a good news, bad news situation,” said IHSA Executive Director Marty Hickman. “We are losing some great people who have provided exemplary leadership to the IHSA, but we also have three excellent new individuals coming into the fold who are excited and ready to contribute. Ross, Vicky, and Doug have all been valued Board members. We wish them the best of luck and can’t thank them enough for their years of service.”

All three new appointees will serve out the remaining terms of the Board member they are replacing, as Gardner and Nuckolls will complete their terms in 2010 and Klett’s term will expire in 2011. All three will be eligible for full three-year Board terms following the completion of their abridged terms.
