Feburary 23, 2009
Two additional amendment proposals on the ballot were approved in voting by the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) membership in voting that ended Feb. 22. The online ballots were tabulated and certified in the IHSA Office Monday (Feb. 23). Both by-law changes take effect in 30 days (Mar. 25, 2009).
By a vote of 220-71, the membership amended By-law 1.480 to remove the provision that requires the IHSA to maintain a retirement system “comparable to that of the Teachers’ Retirement System of the State of Illinois.”
The membership approved by a 243-48 margin a change to By-law 3.111 to allow the executive director to grant exemptions to the coaching school participation by-law for programs run under the auspices of World Sport Chicago. World Sport Chicago is a branch of the organizing committee that is preparing Chicago’s bid for the 2016 Olympics.
