Do What’s Right! 2008 Sportspersons of the Year

The IHSA is proud to announce its 2008 Sportspersons of the Year, presented by Walgreens.  Seven individuals from across the state are recognized for their outstanding sportsmanship during interscholastic competition.  They are:

Each winner will receive a plaque and a $500.00 scholarship, compliments of Walgreens, during the Illinois Principals Association conference in October.

The IHSA received many outstanding nominations and essays and congratulates all of the students who entered.

The next DWR! Sportsperson of the Year begins in January.  Any IHSA member school whose conference has registered for the Do What's Right! Sportsmanship Program or any independent school that has registered may nominate one student, male or female, to be considered for this award.

Do What’s Right! Poster Contest

The IHSA is proud to announce the winners of the Do What’s Right! Poster contest, sponsored by Walgreens. They are:

The next DWR! Poster contest begins in January.  Students from IHSA member schools will have a chance to showcase their artistic talent by designing a poster for the Do What's Right! Sportsmanship Program. Contestants will be asked to develop a theme or concept that illustrates the fundamentals of good sportsmanship and, using old-school artistic techniques (no computers), render that design on paper. Winners from each grade level (freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior) will be announced in August.
