Comcast today announced plans to showcase two Illinois High School football playoff games this weekend on CN100, Comcast’s exclusive original programming network. Live coverage will begin at 1:00 pm and will feature Chicago Mt. Carmel (11-0) vs. Park Ridge Maine South (10-1) in a battle of Class 8A powerhouses.
The day’s second game, a 7A tilt between Wheaton Warrenville South (11-0) and Chicago Morgan Park (10-1), will be taped by Comcast for tape delay telecast Sunday at 1:00 pm.
Apart from Saturday’s live and Sunday’s tape delay coverage, Comcast has dedicated additional CN100 playback times early next week to ensure local prep sports fans have an opportunity to watch their favorite teams in action. For additional viewer convenience, featured games will also be available "on demand" beginning Monday, November 12.
“High School football has never been more popular and our customers are telling us they’d like to see even more games,” said Comcast Program Manager Dan Capasso. “We’re glad to accommodate with a combination of live and taped games in the midst of playoff fever.”
Saturday’s Maine South vs. Mt. Carmel game represents the first time Comcast has offered a live game in the quarterfinal round, a coverage trend that is gaining momentum. “We’ll evaluate future match-ups to take advantage of live opportunities as they become available, added Program Director Rebecca Cianci. “live coverage of our Game of the Week brings that additional element of excitement and suspense to our home viewers.”
