The Illinois High School Association’s Board of Directors approved Illinois State University to serve as one of the state tournament locations for boys golf through the 2010-2011 school term. The 2007 season will mark the start of the three class system for boys golf with the state tournament being held on October 12th and 13th in the Bloomington-Normal area. The locations include The Den, Prairie Vista, and now the University Golf Course.
“We are excited to have found another home for our Boys Golf Tournament at Illinois State University,” IHSA Executive Director Marty Hickman said. “The University Golf Course has always worked hard to maintain a standard of excellence that attracts events such as ours. We’re glad to be back.”
ISU Golf Course Associate Director and 15-year PGA Professional Laura Provost is thrilled to have the IHSA State Golf Finals back at the ISU Golf Course.
“I’m really excited to renew our relationship with IHSA golf,” said Provost. “We look forward to having the boys event here at Illinois State University Golf Course, and we believe that the golf course will prove to be a challenging test to the state tournament competitors.”
Illinois State University Golf Course was host to the first Girls Golf Tournament in 1975 and hosted that event periodically for 22 years through 2002. The IHSA will, at a later date, announce the courses at which each class will play.
