Spring Bracket Drawing

The blind drawing that determines the state final pairings in bracketed team sports was held at the IHSA Office on Monday, March 24, starting at approximately 10:30 a.m. This drawing covers the spring sports of boys water polo, girls water polo, boys volleyball, girls soccer, girls softball, and boys baseball.

Bryan Bloodworth, sportswriter for the Bloomington Pantagraph, made the drawings.  Traditionally, the pairings are made by ordering the 8 sites that feed into the quarterfinals in alphabetical order and numbering them from 1 to 8. Then 8 numbered peas are drawn from a bottle. The number on the first pea drawn represents the site whose winner will occupy the first position on the quarterfinal bracket, and so on.
