The IHSA Sports Medicine Advisory Committee is pleased to share with its member schools information regarding an important health and injury workshop to be held in Chicago next month.
The workshop "Coaches in Control: Injury and Illness in High School Sports" will aim to provide coaches with the right tools to identify and initiate treatment of common problems encountered on playing fields and in gyms. Among the topics to be covered are: heat-related illness, head injuries, asthma, neck and spine injuries, nutritional supplements, and injury rehabilitation.
Among the presenters are Dr. James P. Kelly, nationally renowned author on sports head injury guidelines, Dr. Stephen Adams, team physician for the Chicago Cubs, Dr. Holly Benjamin, Assistant Professor, University of Chicago, and Tom Christian, Director of Performance Enhancement.
