IHSA Ends Quincy Basketball Inquiry

The inquiry into allegations of recruiting of foreign exchange students for the Quincy High School boys basketball program has been ended, according to IHSA Executive Director Dr. Martin L. Hickman.

The school was informed in a letter dated July 9, 2002, that its cooperation was appreciated and that the matter was closed.

"While it is apparent a violation of the IHSA Recruiting By-law may have occurred, we are closing out the investigation with no action being taken by the IHSA Office," Hickman told the school. "The primary reason for closing this investigation is the unusual length of time it has taken for our staff to reach a firm conclusion in this case. To continue the investigation would simply not be fair to Quincy Senior High School and the personnel involved."

The inquiry began during the 2000-01 school term.
