IHSA and its member schools share the nation's shock and heartbreak over the horrific events of today in our country. Our hearts are broken along with the heart of our nation, and our prayers are with all those immediately involved.
Many are asking whether interscholastic athletic contests today will be cancelled. Individual member schools will undoubtedly respond to today's events by postponing or canceling interscholastic contests. Such decisions are the exclusive prerogative of individual member schools. IHSA does not have a requirement or rule in this regard, and it does not interfere with or seek to direct such decisions by individual members. Rather, IHSA wholeheartedly supports local schools in their decisions and actions.
Anyone with questions regarding interscholastic athletics scheduling should contact the school(s) in which they are interested to determine what local decisions have been made. Meanwhile, join us in grieving and praying for those directly effected by today's national tragedy.
