During the 2000-01 school year, the IHSA sent out over 6,200 certificates to member schools to recognize students who excelled in the classroom while participating in IHSA sponsored sports or activities. The IHSA will provide certificates of recognition to all students who meet the criteria following the completion of their 5th or 7th semester in high school.
Scholastic Achievement Awards Criteria
1. The student must currently be a junior or a senior in an IHSA member school.
2. The student must have completed at least one full season in an IHSA interscholastic activity in good standing.
3. The student must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent on an alternate scale, after the 5th or 7th semester.
Each member school principal should notify the
IHSA office in writing as to the number of
eligible students they have in their school. The
IHSA will send member schools a certificate of
recognition for each eligible student. Any
correspondence or questions concerning this
program should be directed to Linda Muxfeld.
