2000-01 School Enrollments and Classifications Announced
As of September 30, 1999, there were 755 member schools -- 446 Class A, 240 Class AA and 69 Chicago Public League.
Cut-off for 2000-2001
734 and below = Class A
735 and above = Class AA
Cut-off for Boys Soccer Classification for 2000-2001
1290 and below = Class A
1291 and above = Class AA (including Chicago Public League Schools)
The following schools will change classes:
From Class A up to Class AA - Maple Park (Kaneland), Norridge (Ridgewood)
From Class AA down to Class A -- Decatur (Stephen Decatur)*, Mt. Carmel
*Enrollments are determined on the basis of existing schools. Stephen Decatur is expected to close at the end of the 1999-2000 school year.
There are two variance schools for 2000-01 classification. They are (with the schools involved):
Kewanee (H.S.) -- Annawan, Cambridge, Galva, Geneseo (Darnall), Kewanee (Wethersfield), and Manlius (Bureau Valley)
Princeton -- DePue, LaMoille, Manlius (Bureau Valley), and Spring Valley (Hall)
Enrollment Cutoffs: These are the year-by-year figures used to determine classification in the two-class system since the inception of the 65-35 percent system:
1982-83 = 701
1983-84 = 694
1984-85 = 705
1985-86 = 706
1986-87 = 704
1987-88 = 666
1988-89 = 673
1989-90 = 666
1990-91 = 658
1991-92 = 645
1992-93 = 654
1993-94 = 655
1994-95 = 684
1995-96 = 710
1996-97 = 721
1997-98 = 740
1998-99 = 735
1999-2000 = 722
