Past IHSA student-athlete Chris Blanchard served as a pallbearer in the funeral proceedings of President George H. W. Bush. Blacnhard is pictured above at the head of casket, to the right of President George W. Bush.
Blanchard, who began his high school career at Deland-Weldon High School and graduated from Monticello High School in 2005, participated in baseball, cross country, and track & field as a student-athlete.
Blanchard serves in the Army’s 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, which serves as the honor guard for events such as White House ceremonies and state funerals.
