Winning coach, George Ushela of Lyons Township High School: "It is hard to say anything right now. I’m just kind of speechless. These guys will tell you, I’m really not ever speechless. I am just so happy for Danny Brewer."
``It’s been a great season. We won the summer state and the coach’s association last summer so we’ve had a bull’s eye on our back ever since and these guys came through. We’re a very deep team. It is just a great collection of talented kids that work hard and push each other. There is competition on our squad and it carries over on the field. We had eleven kids on our team that weren’t dressed that could do a good job. We carry 33 and we were three deep in every position. It was hard to cut some of those kids and tell them they couldn’t be here tonight.”
Losing coach, Paul Heitkamp of (Rockford) Boylan High School: "They’re a very good hitting team and very deep. We stayed in a little while by throwing a junker but it didn’t last. They’re a very good hitting team."
``We’re very proud but as of next year, I haven’t even thought about that yet.”
