 Notes & Quotes
NOTES AND QUOTES

Winning coach, Derek Lindauer of Moline: "It was a matter of Zach (Minor) beinjg on today. They didn’t get many good swings. Then our five runsin the first inning probably took away most of the confidence they had. I though tabout pulling Zach early but wasn’t totally comfortable with that because I didn’ty know their lineup wlell enough. He probably could come back and help us tomorrow."

“Nathan (Linn) has really been selective at the plate, waiting for his pitch. And it had been a big help to his game.”

“We are in good position since we have some good arms left for Saturday. We have three pitchers to choose from.”

Losing coach, Ed Toledo of Lane Tech: "Pretty much coming in we knew Moline was a very sound team. That’s one of the things we had heard about them. They didn’t beat themselves, played sound D. Zach Minor pitched as well as we heard he could pitch."

“From our standpoint I think the first inning was key. The errors hurt that was for sure and it set the tone for the day. Our pitcher (Steve) Kornatowski didn’t have his best game but that’s baseball. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn’t.

“Minor was throwing fast balls, curves. In the top of the first was a problem obviously. In the bottom of the first our kid, (Dorian) Madrid hits a shot and they double up our guy. I said to our coaches if it’s like right now and it doesn’t change, it’s not gong to get any better.”
