I had talked to Hampson about Walter Mitty last night, and how you've gotta do the job, stay focused. You're demanding a lot of these kids, getting up at 6:45 and not having batting practice, then having to play their hearts out.'' Losing coach,: Leroy Franklin of Simeon "We played well for the first six innings then things happened. We didn't make the play when we had should have. The dropped ball at first was the biggest play of the game. It changed the momentum.'' ''We came here to win and we really thought for a while we had it won. But you have to play a complete game to get the job done and we didn't do that. Edwardsville played better than we did and that's why they'll be playing for the state championship. We'll refocus our energies to winning third place. We're a young team so I think you'll see more of us here.'' |
