Wilmington High School senior kicker Jordan Sarr became a legend in his hometown, and a name high school football fans in Illinois will not soon forget, when he kicked a 31-yard field goal as time expired to lift Wilmington High School to a 20-17 win over Williamsville High School in a classic IHSA Class 3A title game.

The Wildcats and Bullets went into halftime at the University of Illinois’ Memorial Stadium knotted at 3-3 (26-yard Sarr field goal), before Williamsville knotted the game at 17-17 with a 65-yard touchdown pass with just over five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Following a 10-yard return on the ensuing kickoff, Wilmington began its game-winning drive on its own 39-yard line with 5:15 remaining in the game. The Wildcats drove 46 yards on 10 plays, leading to a fourth down and three yards to go from the Williamsville 15-yard line. After a timeout, head coach Jeff Reents elected to call upon Sarr to attempt the game-winning kick. With four second remaining on the clock, senior quarterback Mason Southall snapped the ball to senior holder Austin Headrick, who got the ball down for Sarr.
